Reformation

2. REFORMATION
Reform is defined as "the process of improvement by removing defects or correcting errors." We desire to be ever conscious and self-reflective about what we believe, what we do, and how we do it. Newer is not always better, but we should always be willing to embrace correction and change when needed. The seven words that will paralyze any church are "We've never done it that way before."

We embrace the Protestant Reformation's call for ongoing reform (semper reformanda). This means that we should perpetually seek to conform to the will of God as found in the Word of God. When the apostle Paul wrote, "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2) this was meant as a challenge that we should submit ourselves to ongoing transformation into His perfect image.

Whereas in reformation our eyes are fixed on the present and future, restoration is found as we look back at what has been lost in the past.
